There are many things to look forward to this August. My biggest trip this year will be on August 23 – 26 when I join some friends on a trip to Bohol and Cebu. Bohol is home to the famous Chocolate Hills, a unique landscape I’ve only seen on postcards. This will be the first time I’ll take a domestic flight and passing through the controversial new terminal, NAIA-3.
The trip means plotting my longest ever vacation leave in my two years of employment. To achieve that I’ve been working twice as much over the past few days. I’ve spent hours and hours on preview marathons and copy writing.

One problem I have now is being short on cash for the Bohol trip. The cost for the four day vacation increased from the original budget I had in mind. I’m left to eat instant noodles every now and then.

I’m just joking. I can’t help but spend a little for the occasional detox from work. These would include trips to the coffee shop at least once a week, some drinking, and even some billiards. George + Billiards = FAIL

This month it appears Plurk addiction is at its highest. It is a daily habit. The whole concept of having karma that rises and falls makes it so addictive. I don’t flood on Plurk though!

I take Plurk as a challenge on how we can come up with more clever ways to get people to respond. I’m not talking about “plurk bait” but rather “smart conversations” which gets you to mingle with other bloggers.

Speaking of bloggers, there are several blogging events that I’m looking forward to joining this month. There’s the Influential Bloggers 2008 meetup on August 11. Before that there’s tonight’s Coke event at SM Mall of Asia. I’m interested in joining but the event also clashes with the opening of the Beijing Olympics which I want to watch LIVE on television.
Finally, Olympic fever is at its all time high. Tonight the $40-billion Beijing 2008 Olympics will kick off in what is expected to be the most extravagant opening ceremonies to date. I’d rather brush off the political heat of the Beijing Olympics.

No nation was ever built under Utopian circumstances. The United States had slavery, the Japanese slaughtered thousands during their expansion in Asia, and our own country has its share of human rights abuses. Ugh, there I go.
The Beijing Olympics is a WIN for Asia. Catch the Opening Ceremonies live on RPN 9 (Crime/Suspense) at 8:00 PM local time.
Cheers to this exciting month ahead!

Yes, George, but the Americans and the Japanese didn’t host the Olympics while they were slaughtering and enslaving people.
Not that I’m condemning the Olympics because China hosts it, though. The games is the moment for many great athletes. Let them be spared the politics.
Goodluck to our Filipino athletes!
And I hope Gloria’s plane crashes en route back home.

@ J – Naturally I would feel driven to condemn China’s bullying over Tibet but it seems the spirit of the Olympic games has challenged the “when” and “where” to bring these issues up. Yes, let the athletes be spared from the politics! (Especially for the Georgia delegation, under pressure at this moment)
