If there’s one particular food item I can rave about it would be the la paz batchoy of Deco’s in Iloilo City. It was so good we had it for merienda on our first day and then breakfast on our second day. I wouldn’t mind eating it again and again. I mean look at it…
For years the only la paz batchoy I knew of was the one flavor of Lucky Me Supreme. Now that I’ve tried the original la paz batchoy in its province of origin, I can’t look at cup noodles the same way again.
The la paz batchoy at Deco’s is now the tastiest bowl of noodles I have ever had. The blend of hot noodles and freshly chopped ingredients was taste bud satisfaction. The chicharon was crisp and crunchy. The broth (which was refilled generously when we asked) was ulam already.
The price? Just Php 50.00 to to 60.00 a bowl!
Deco’s La Paz Batchoy was founded in 1938. Its first stall opened in the public parket of La Paz, Iloilo. Today it has expanded into a chain of modern restaurants offering this famous delicacy. Something to make it one of Iloilo’s gastronomic marvels.
I was so into my soup, taking photos and videos, that our waiter just stared at us (probably in disbelief at my enthusiasm). A trip to Iloilo City would never be complete without one of these bowls.
Deco’s La Paz Batchoy has a website.
