Iloilo: Experiencing Four Season Hotel

For the Iloilo leg of our trip we booked ourselves in the Four Season Hotel in Iloilo City. Yes, it’s Four Season hotel without the s.  The hotel is located on Delgado Street which is a main thoroughfare.

Four Season Hotel in Iloilo

The location of the hotel is nice because it is walking distance to downtown Iloilo City.  You can walk to Robinson’s Iloilo, SM Delgado, JM Basa Street, and other landmarks nearby.

The hotel lobby also has a Deco’s La Paz Batchoy branch.  Deco’s (in my next post) is reason enough to return to Iloilo City if you ask me.  But it also happens to be the only clear highlight of Four Season Hotel.

View from our room

The hotel disappointed me because…

  • The white towels had gray patches.  They looked dirty.
  • Water in the bathroom chugged out and contained dirt particles.
  • The rooms smell like carpet. I mean, really.
  • Room key card expires frequently, so you have to get these renewed.

The only pros were…

  • The location of the hotel.
  • Deco’s La Paz Batchoy downstairs.

Inside the room

It was a clear downgrade from the hospitality and wonderful feeling you had at O Hotel in BacolodHindi ka mapapa-O dito mashado.  Four Season Hotel positions itself as a budget hotel, but we felt it wasn’t worth our hard-earned money.

I could imagine far worse hotels out there.  Four Season can fall in the “well, hmmm… not so bad” list, but I know I can squeeze out more value for my money.  This isn’t a hotel I’ll be returning to in Iloilo City.  I’m interested in trying other places to stay here.

(Based on our experience at the hotel on Oct. 19 and 20, 2009.)
