Bacolod: The O Hotel experience

Since we were going to Bacolod for the 30th Bacolod Masskara Festival we had to reserve hotel rooms in advance to avoid the rush.  We reserved six rooms and paid for them in July (four months ago).

We had high expectations for O Hotel (formerly known as Bacolod Executive Inn).  When our multicab from the airport arrived we were in awe.  The place looks really nice!  Mapapa-O ka talaga!

Facade of O Hotel

This was the city of smiles and the staff really proved that slogan.  We were always greeted by the staff like the doorman, the reception, the housekeeping, the waiters… they don’t disappoint!  You felt welcome.

The rooms were very clean and well-maintained.  I didn’t hear any complaints from the group.  The mini-bar (that’s the ref actually) was stocked with sodas and refreshments.  The towels were clean and usable (unlike the hotel we would experience later in Iloilo).

We reserved six (6) Double Executive Rooms (Php 1,400.00 each) which features 1 single bed, 1 double bed, warm and cold shower, telephone, 21″ cable TV (we loved watching HBO and the Masskara Festival on a local channel), a safety deposit box, and refrigerator.  Two to three people would share the room.

Each room comes with a free breakfast buffet for one person.  Just add Php 199.00 (per head) for a seat to enjoy the buffet.  It’s worth it!  There was a generous amount of breakfast food available like omelets, pastries, bangus slices, silver dollar pancakes, adobo, chopseuy, salad, etc.  They were also all neatly presented.  I loved the orange juice containers.  Coffee and hot chocolate were also available.

Tips for those staying at this hotel

  • Pick a room that’s on the backside of the hotel. The traffic noise on San Sebastian Street out in front can get annoying if you want to rest.  Try to ask the reception if this can be arranged.
  • Bring your own soap and shampoo. In spite of friendly staff and well-maintained rooms and facilities, we didn’t like the hotel soap and shampoo!  Usually travelers bring their own but in our case we forgot.  The soap doesn’t feel good on the skin and the shampoo doesn’t do anything. (This was the only minor downside.)

I’m convinced that I’ll be checking in here again when I return to Bacolod.  The friendly staff, the quality of the rooms, and the hearty breakfast are all good points for this hotel.

On top of that the hotel even gave us a Php 1,000.00 rebate since we were a large group that availed of six rooms.  Usually Bacolod’s biggest annual event means a price hike at hotels, but O Hotel did the opposite.

You can visit the O Hotel website to reserve your rooms!  This is not a sponsored post, this is my testimonial and personal recommendation.

Thank you very much for your review of O Hotel in Bacolod. I’ve been doing some research of places to stay and I would definitely take this into consideration since they seem to have very affordable prices so far. I’m really looking forward to a Masskara Experience next year! Thanks again!
